When I try to open these patterns in photoshop it says it's not the right document. How am I suppose to open RAR documents then?

You can compare a rar-file with folded paper... it is smaller than the original document but you cant read anything. First you have to unfold it.
To do so you need a programm like "Win-Rar", "Win-zip" or "7-zip".

then you'll get a folder with the "pat.-file" in it
